ALERT!! EXTREME SUMMERTIME TEMPERATURES ARE HERE!!

Here are important steps to take to improve survivability of freshly installed sod;

  1. IRRIGATE IMMEDIATLEY AFTER INSTALLED, WITHIN THE HOUR IF POSSIBLE. If you wait until that night or next day, the grass will not survive under these 95-degree plus days. Do not wait for “upcoming” thunderstorms, they may or may not give you any or enough rain.

  1. WATER THEROUGHLY. Use as much water as is practically available. Evaporation rates at this time of year are at their peak. Small amounts or a quick light wettings, will not be enough for this time of year.

  1. SHADE VARIETIES DO NOT TRANSPLANT OR SURVIVE IF INSTALLED IN HEAVY SHADE, DURING THESE EXTREMELY HIGH TEMPERATURES. Shade varieties must have 3-4 hours of direct sunlight to have any chance of survival. Except to apply fungicides and insecticides to reduce stress from disease and pests. Postpone installation until night temperatures get back in the 60’s.

  1. INSTALL SOD THE DAY YOU RECIVE IT. Sod installation within 24 hours will establish easier than sod installed that has been on a pallet for 48 hours. The longer it sits on the pallet the less chance it has to survive.

WE CANNOT “GUARENTEE” THE SUCCESSFUL ESTABLISHMENT OF ANY OF THE SHADE GRASS VARIETIES DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS OF JULY 1ST THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30TH .
